Yay, good for you! You can do it however you want, there's not exactly a designated way to do it. You can ask people to apply, but considering that it's a newly started wikia, you're better off recruiting a friend without any applications. With a bigger wikia you can ask people to apply eg. in a forum post or to send you an e-mail. Before you do that, though, you need to think about what kind of a person you'd want modding, and set up a "form" of questions the applicants should answer in their application -- you can then go by their answers to determine who seems most ideal to you.
Just use your powers for good that's all. I may not be an Admin here or a mod but I have experience of having the upper-hand. You do a great job already. Just, may I give you some advice. You are more than welcome to say no. I just want to say a few things. Can I?
1. Always evaluate before taking decisions. Don't be like "oh she said this so Imma ban her for eternity". People make mistakes sometimes. Make sure to talk to the person before taking serious matters.
2. Know what power to use. This is important. You can't be too nice but you have to be hard sometimes. I learned that the hard way. I was made captain of a team. I was being soft on people. They didn't listen to me. I got harder and sure enough the coperated.
3. Don't abuse power. I am not saying you do but don't in the futur. You were made an Admin to take care of misbehaving people. But don't go around banning people because they don't like bananas and you do or something. Just keep that in mind.
4. Try and go with the flow. Meaning try and blend into the community too. Like take part in group chats or something. Make you and the people more happy.
5. Suspend then ban. It's better you suspend before permantly banning the person so they have a second chance to prove themselves. Like sometimes I might mispell or type the wrong key and post. I might not realize it is a bad or unproper word. So If you suspend maybe the person will rethink what has happned
That's all. These might help. I am not saying you have to follow what I said. I might have put my opinion in there. But this is advice I give from experience. So there you go! Have a nice... uh... flight? Day?
Well I'll go with day. Have a nice day and stay in school!
I think we should have a wiki page for non-star riders since we have one for Star Riders. Honestly, that makes no sense! It would be a great idea to add so, please reconsider. If not, there is no need to have a Star Rider page.
I consider it an irrelevant page, since "non-star rider" isn't anything official or concrete -- it's really just the absence of Star Rider. What would one even write on that page? "Non-star riders can't do the things that are only for star riders"? The privileges of being SR are already listed on the Star Rider page, and we don't need another page to state basically the exact same thing.
I just wanted to say that I love what you do on the redeem code page. It is really cool how you don't give up and keep trying to make the commenters follow the rules. I bet it is a lot of work though! Keep it up and have a good day! :D
It went very well, thank you! And thank you a ton for your help on the wikia meanwhile, you've been a huge help! :)
I feel terrible throwing critique immediately, since you've been doing an amazing job -- but I saw you created a new category called Discovered Areas, and the other admins and I feel it's a bit redundant. We already have a category (Locations) that has all the locations from all the games, and additionally, all location pages have a category for the game they're a part of. To then have a category for location pages specifically from one game becomes a bit excessive. In the future, it'd be great if you could talk to an admin before creating a new category, especially a big one, since we want to keep them as few and relevant as possible in order to make it as easy as possible for readers to navigate around.
But overall, you've been doing super amazing -- thank you very much!
No need to feel bad. I had no idea any other admins were still active or I certainly would have asked. I won't be home for another 3-4 hours due to work but as soon as I get home I'll get rid of that category.
Oh darn, sorry I'm late with the answers (vacation), but here they are:
As said before, when we have a need for new admins we announce it -- in the past it's been on Esme's blog. Anyone who is interested can send an application through email, and the whole process takes maybe a month. We haven't had any age restrictions, but we do however value correct grammar, an ability to write formally etc highly, which admittedly is more common with slightly older people. Since we have both a Swedish and an English Jorvikipedia, and the Swedish one came first, we have had the requirement that you need to speak both Swedish and English.
Right now we aren't taking applications because we haven't felt the need for new admins. Although two of the admins are not super active, the founder (who is almost exclusively on JSV) and I (who mostly keeps to JEN) haven't felt that we need more manpower atm. The wikias aren't too big -- as it is right now it's fine to only be one person on here, although it's a slight inconvenience when the only admin is away (as I have been for the past week or so).
Copy-pasting my past answer: admins add to the wikia like any other user, but additionally we make sure people follow rules, hand out warnings, ban the ones who don't behave, undo sabotage, quality check basically every edit that comes through, etc etc. Admin is really only a fancy title that gives us a bit more power than the average user. Helping is totally okay, but things like handing out official warnings should be left to admins. So if you see anyone breaking against rules, for example, it's okay to tell them they're breaking a rule; but you shouldn't actually warn them, if that makes sense.
Ok. Sorry this is me, the same person. I just logged in.
Sadly, I do not speak Swedish. French, yes but not Swedish. I feel that there is a need for more Admins. I am not directing it to me but to everyone. I have seen a lot of people doing not so good stuff especially using "wt*' on the Redeem code page. Just so people are safe!
Ok I am terrible at reasoning. It is ok if you couldn't answer earlier! Me myself I don't go on that often!
P.S. the recuirment for speaking Swedish is a bit "over the top" since there are a lot of people who can make good Admins and do not speak Swedish. Plus I think there are more English users. Or have seperate Admins. Nether the less, I think it is unfair to only qualify Swedish/English speaking folks since a lot of English speaking only people would do a good job. This is my opinion btw.
As said, it's more practical for us to have admins that speak both languages. But I never stated we'd actually require new applicants to speak both Swedish and English. I said this was a requirement we had the last time we searched for new admins, three years ago. Things have changed, I'm aware -- but it's still up to us to decide whether we want to keep this requirement or not. If we decide it's better that new admins speak both languages, then so it shall be. We can work much better if all admins can work on both wikias and not just one of them, and when we don't need to coordinate two different groups of admins. If you feel it's unfair, I'm sorry, but we still have to go after what we think is best for the wikia and the team.
We aren't taking in any new admins at the moment and it'll probably be a good while until we do. When it happens, people get to send in applications and describe why they'd make a good fit and we choose the new admins based on that.
Admins add to the wikia like any other user, but additionally we make sure people follow rules, hand out warnings, ban the ones who don't behave, undo sabotage, quality check basically every edit that comes through, etc etc.
I would properly be good at that I always am studying jorvic like the ancient tree there were hoof prints their most likely from starshine still working out the mystery of how linda was in pandoria how do you become a admin lys
Sorry about the lame attempt at a spoiler warning. I didn't realise we had a spoiler warning template and just worked with what I had. Do we have any extensions in place for hiding text and images under a spoiler warning or do we just have the one template?
Oh, sorry, I was referring to my own attempt as lame lol! We actually didn't have a spoiler warning template for "side" quests, just for the main one, I created the other one just a few minutes ago just to have something. It would be ideal to have templates to hide images and texts -- probably could be a good idea to have one for the main storyline and one for other questlines -- but that hasn't really been a priority in my mind and right now I'm too busy to make one, so atm we only have the infobox warnings. Definitely something I'm going to make as soon as I manage to graduate x.x
We only include official features in pages -- I haven't had time to play in a while but afaik there still isn't dressage in the game except for the Lusitano's Piaffe, which is already explained on the Lusitano page. Feel free to write in the forums, though, that's basically free-for-all (but please keep to the right subforum).
queen caitie I'm always playing ss there r lots of new outfits and there is a new purple pony movie store there is dressage for friesans and I think for morgans to .
so have I helped answer your question
